Provided are a sliver separation device and method. The device comprises: a vibration platform (3). The vibration platform (3) is used to fix at least one liquid crystal panel subject to sliver separation, and drive the liquid crystal panel to vibrate, so that a glass substrate of the liquid crystal panel breaks along a cutting-incurred crack. The device and method are based on the principles of vibration, and make the cutting-incurred crack on the glass substrate having the cutting-incurred crack fully extend along the thickness direction of the glass substrate, so as to achieve the sliver separation effect. The separation process is easy to control, and does not contaminate or damage the liquid crystal panel.
