The device (16) has a support assembly (23) that is adapted to receive an airbag (28), where the support assembly defines an opening (38) for deployment of the airbag. The airbag is housed in the support assembly. A flap (40) is utilized for covering the opening in an uninflated state of the airbag. A restraint system (48) of the flap is adapted to retain the flap on the airbag upon deployment of the airbag. The restraint system is adapted for retaining the flap on the support assembly when deploying the airbag. The flap is fixed directly on the support assembly. The restraint system includes a reserve unit formed by a flexible bond i.e. strap. The strap is made of textile material. The safety device is placed under a board body. An independent claim is also included for a board edge.
