[Problem] To provide a printer that can be opened at the front or completely opened, and to provide a hinge for use in said printer. [Solution] A printer provided with: a hinge section that, when the paper discharge face of the printer is set to the front face, is provided to the rear section of either the left or the right side face, and that connects an upper unit and a lower unit; and a talon member for latching the upper unit and the lower unit. The hinge section comprises: a lower-side hinge bracket that is connected to the lower unit; an upper-side hinge bracket that is connected with the lower-side hinge bracket by a pivot pin, and that is capable of rotation with the pivot pin serving as the center of rotation; and a bracket cover that contains and fixes the upper-side hinge bracket. The upper unit has a ring section into which the tip section of the bracket cover is inserted, and that makes the upper unit capable of rotation with the bracket cover serving as the center of rotation. |
