This invention relates to a method of safely providing a safety barrier in conjunction with a set of steps and childhood proof access to a spa, swim spa or swimming pool which is above ground that normally requires an independent/stand-alone pool fence/safety barrier. The said safety barrier device is placed around the climbable entry area of the spa, swim spa or swimming pool, a self-closing front gate shuts to cover access to the stairs eliminating access to spa, swim spa or swimming pool. A lock and childhood proof latch enables an adult to have direct access to open the gate and access the stairs, then providing access to the spa, swim spa or swimming pool. The said device allows for a permanent and also temporary solution to the above statutory requirements.
