619,949. Indicating liquid levels. SOC. L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES G. CLAUDE. Sept. 7, 1945, Nos. 23116 and 23117. Convention dates, Aug. 10, 1943, and June 30, 1944. [Class 123 (i)] In a liquid-level indicator for an insulated receptacle containing a liquified gas which is liquid at a temperature lower than the surrounding atmosphere in which the upper end of the receptacle is connected by a branch G, Fig. 1, to one limb of a U-tube pressure gauge and the other limb of the latter is connected to a lower part of the receptacle by pipes E, C, B, the pipe C being subjected to atmospheric temperature or the effect of a heating plate D so that the liquid therein is partly vaporized, a return pipe F is provided between the pipe C and receptacle to prevent, accumulation of impurities in the pipes B, C. The pipe assembly B, C, F may have the hair-pin configuraton shown in Fig. 2 in order to avoid sharp bends, the pipes lying in the same vertical plane or the right-hand end of the assembly being twisted about the axis of symmetry. Fig. 5 shows an alternative arrangement. |
