PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope light source optical system capable of handling respective observation methods, preventing enlargement of a light source device and securing brightness.SOLUTION: A light source optical system guiding light from a light source 1 to a light guide 6 includes a lighting control means 13 having an optical image surface and a pupil surface arranged outside a conjugate surface for them for carrying out light control by eclipsing a flux and color subtracting lens 2a for suppressing coloring of the flux on a plane with a light control means 13 arranged on the plane. In this case, the color subtracting lens 2a, a condenser lens 2b and a positive lens group are arranged in this order from a light source side.
