The unit (1) has a pivot (4) coupled with bottom locks (9, 9') and movable between a pivot position (18, 18') and another pivot position if the locks are locked and unlocked, respectively. A blocking device (6) is coupled with a seat adjustable fitting and movable between a position (20) and another position if a backrest (12) is arranged in a usage position (13) and a non-usage position, respectively. The blocking device prevents and allows transfer of the pivot from one of the pivot positions to the other pivot position if the blocking device is arranged in the two positions, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle seat.
