PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid inability of driving of a vehicle by continuing working of an internal combustion engine even if a compression release brake does not operate, relating to a control device of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A control device includes an internal combustion engine 10 having a plurality of cylinders 13, a fuel injecting means 25 for injecting a fuel into the cylinders 13, a fuel injection controlling means 83 for controlling the fuel injection of the fuel injecting means 25, an exhaust valve opening means 30 for opening an exhaust valve 19 during a compression stroke to operate a brake with discharging of compressed gas, and a determining means 82 for determining whether the brake with discharging of compressed gas normally operates or fails when the brake with discharging of compressed gas is operated by the exhaust valve opening means 30. The fuel injection controlling means 83 stops fuel injection of a cylinder with which the operation of the brake with discharging of compressed gas is determined to fail by the determining means 82. |
