- 55 Abstract MODULO EMBEDDING OF VIDEO PARAMETERS Disclosed is a decoding method of selecting a value for a video parameter based on a portion of video data encoded in a video bitstream. The method receives the portion of encoded video data (Fig. 3) from the video bitstream (201) and determines an aggregate value (e.g. 17, modulo dividend) based on the received portion of the video data. The 10 method determines a remainder (modulo result 802) by dividing the aggregate value with a predetermined value (modulo base) and then selects a value (0 or 1) for the video parameter from a set of predefined values (701, 801, 901, 1001) according to a mapping (710,810) from the determined remainder (702, 802, 902, 1002), wherein the mapping has at least a plurality of values (e.g. 0,1,2) for a remainder corresponding to a single value 15 (e.g. 0) for the video parameter.
