PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress slack of a wiping member when wiping a liquid ejection face by pressing the long wiping member to come in contact with the liquid ejection face of a liquid ejection head, and improve cleaning performance of the head.SOLUTION: A liquid ejection apparatus includes: a long wiping member (32) coming in contact with a liquid ejection face (22) of a liquid ejection head (20) to wipe the liquid ejection face (22); a wiping member conveyance means (50) conveying and driving the wiping member along its lengthwise direction; a pressing member (40) pressing the wiping member (32) to come in contact with the liquid ejection face (22); an elastic member (42) applying force to cause the wiping member (32) to be pressed against the liquid ejection face (22) through the pressing member (40); a relative displacement means (90) relatively displacing the head (20) and the wiping member (32) while making the conveyed and driven wiping member (32) come in contact with the head (20); and a slack eliminating member (80) arranged in a head side part on a front side in a traveling direction of the head (20) by the relative displacement, and eliminating slack of the wiping member (32) caused by the contact of the wiping member (32). |
