PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clear image layer which is excellent in scratch resistance.SOLUTION: In an image recording apparatus, a base material with a color image layer recorded on one principal surface thereof is prepared, and a clear image layer covering the color image layer is recorded with transparent ink in accordance with clear dot image data. A clear image 61 shown by the clear dot image data includes: a first clear area 611 having a fixed dot recording ratio represented by one kind of a dot arrangement pattern having no anisotropy; and a second clear area 612 coming in contact with at least a part of edges of the first clear area 611, and having a fixed dot recording ratio represented by another kind of a dot arrangement pattern having no anisotropy. The clear image layer on the base material has no anisotropy, and accordingly, anisotropy does not occur in scratch resistance.
