PURPOSE: A system for controlling an indoor environment and a method thereof are provided to make a pleasant indoor environment with a little air exchange rate by taking a step prior to reach to the preset threshold of the indoor concentration of carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling an indoor environment comprises a ranking unit(140), a control unit(120), and a communication module(130). The ranking unit determines the ranking of a plurality of appliances, respectively. The control unit successively determines whether to control the appliances according to the situation information of a user and preset ranking. The control unit produces a control signal for operating an air purification system or curtailing the power of appliances before the concentration of carbon dioxide reaching the preset threshold. The communication module transmits the control signal to the air purification system or to the appliances.
