PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element with a simple element structure, capable of shaping light beam and controlling its direction by single light-emitting element.SOLUTION: A light-emitting element 1 is a light-emitting element which emits light from a flat surface, and comprises: a buffer layer 4 having the flat surface; three semiconductor columnar parts 5, 6, 7 arranged above the buffer layer 4 so as to surround a predetermined region and having a diameter being larger than a wavelength of a radiation light in a free space; and light-emitting part 3 arranged in a part of region including points immediately below centers of each of three semiconductor columnar parts 5, 6, 7 below the buffer layer 4. Light emitted from light-emitting part 3 is radiated from semiconductor columnar parts 5, 6, 7, respectively. Since three semiconductor columnar parts 5, 6, 7 are arranged in the arrangement, the light-emitting element 1 can shape light beam by the interference effect of light near columnar parts, and the radiation direction of the light beam can be controlled because of a difference between the height H-δ of one semiconductor columnar part 7 and the height H of other semiconductor columnar parts 5, 6. |
