PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that, while equalizing the luminous power of a light source per line, a section (range) in one line to be read is brought closer to a read at reference speed, to heighten picture quality.SOLUTION: An image reader includes: a light source which lights up with predetermined luminous power to irradiate the read target with light for a fixed lighting time while reading one line; an image sensor which reads the read target per line; and a moving unit which changes a per-line read time and read speed by changing a speed at which the light source or the read target is moved. When the read speed is accelerated to a reference read speed at which the per-line read time becomes equal to a predetermined reference read time by the moving unit or decelerated from the reference read speed, the image sensor reads the read target every line by adapting itself to a per-line read time changing in step with a change in the read time, and the light source lights up so as to approach a read section in one line in the reference read time. |
