PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which, when photographing a static image during moving image recording, makes it possible to easily create a static image from a plurality of compression coded frame images constituting a moving image file without interrupting the moving image recording.SOLUTION: The image pickup device comprises: an image sensor 6 which senses light from the subject to pick up an image; a moving image file generation unit 4 which generates a moving image file constituted by a plurality of frame images based on an image pickup signal from the image sensor; a determination unit 4 which determines whether an instruction to photograph a static image has been issued during moving image photographing; and a control unit 4 which controls whether or not to record the frame images constituting the moving image file generated by the moving image file generation unit on a recording medium after compression coding them into I frames which are intra-frame coded images on the basis of the result of determination by the determination unit. |
