PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated carbon nanotube which does not burn or deteriorate under a high temperature oxidizing atmosphere.SOLUTION: A coated carbon nanotube is obtained by forming a coating film 3 having oxidation resistance on the entire circumference of a carbon nanotube 2, wherein the coating film 3 comprises Si of an outer layer and SiC of an inner layer. The SiC of the inner layer is the reaction product of Si of the outer layer and the carbon nanotube.
