PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide schemes and systems of defending a device against intrusion when a threat originates from a program running inside the device itself.SOLUTION: A method for protecting a device with a self-defending intrusion prevention system (IPS) comprises the steps of: monitoring the data packets to detect a pattern of activity indicating a potential attack that originates from within the device; detecting a threat originating from within the protected device; and initiating, upon detection of the threat, a self-defending countermeasure which progressively degrades network services available on the device by control for intentionally restricting data communication performance over a specific period of time without abruptly cutting off services or communications from the device. |
