PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for cutting a film are provided to quickly cut a pattern on a film having a small size and multiple edges. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for cutting a film includes a transferring frame (10), a transferring unit (20), a laser source (30), a first irradiator (40), a second irradiator (50), a beam converter (60), a calculator (70), and a controller (80). The transferable film is mounted on the transferring frame. The transferring unit transfers the film from one side to the other side. The laser source at the transferring frame generates a laser beam. The first irradiator receives the laser beam from the laser source, and irradiates and cuts one part of the film with the laser beam. The second irradiator receives the laser beam from the laser source, and cuts the other part of the pattern. The beam converter alternately feeds the laser beam to the first irradiator and the second irradiator. The calculator calculates a transferring velocity and cutting time for the film. The controller controls the operations of the first irradiator, the second irradiator, and the beam converter according to the calculation of the calculator. |
