PURPOSE: A visibility function generating method and a device thereof generate an enhanced visibility function accurately reflecting human visual characteristics by using spectral distribution measurements of a reference field and spectral distribution measurements of a matching field. CONSTITUTION: A first color characteristic of first spectral distribution and a second color characteristic of second spectral distribution are computed by applying a first visibility function to first spectral distribution measurements and second spectral distribution measurements (230). A first color difference between the first color characteristic and the second color characteristic is calculated (235). A third color characteristic of the first spectral distribution and a fourth color characteristic of the second spectral distribution are computed by applying a second visibility function to the first spectral distribution measurements and the second spectral distribution measurements (240).
