PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic particle that starts moving through a high electric field and has high voltage (threshold voltage).SOLUTION: An electrophoretic particle (its particle group 34) has a core material particle and a covering layer. The core material particle is formed of a composition containing a resin, a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound having any one of an imino group, a methylol group and an alkoxymethyl group in the molecule and a heterocyclic ring having a nitrogen atom, and a coloring agent. The covering layer covers the surface of the core material particle and is formed of a composition containing a resin having a dispersion medium-philic part soluble in a dispersion medium where the electrophoretic particle is dispersed and a dispersion medium-phobic part insoluble in a dispersion medium where the electrophoretic particle is dispersed.
