PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst allowed to be inexpensively and stably supplied.SOLUTION: In an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst using a Cu plate or a Cu-group alloy plate on which Cu oxide protrusions are formed as a catalyst material, the Cu oxide protrusions can be formed as needle-shaped whiskers composed of CuO formed by heating Cu or Cu-group alloy in an oxygen-present atmosphere and can be formed as micro protrusions composed of CuO formed by applying Ar ion beams in low vacuum after heating Cu or Cu-group alloy in the oxygen-present atmosphere. The Cu oxide protrusions are one sort or a mixture of two or more sorts out of a cylinder, a conical body, a pyramid, a truncated cone, and a truncated pyramid, and the aspect ratio to be a ratio of a length to a diameter of a base bottom of 10 μm or less is set at 3 or more. |
