PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which, if a relative positional relation between a heat generating region of a heating rotating body and a temperature sensor of which detection range is set to be the region becomes deviated, notifies the fact thereof.SOLUTION: A fixing device monitors temperature of a detection area by using one or more temperature sensors of which total detection area covers an entire area of a heat generating region in its axial direction and does not extend to outside of the heat generating region when the relative positional relation between themselves and the heat generating region on an outer peripheral surface of a heating rotating body having a resistance heating element layer as a heating source is correct and detects an abnormal heat generation of the resistance heating element layer. During warm-up, it acquires temperature information indicating a temperature state of the detection area on the basis of a monitoring result, determines (S708, S709) whether at least one part of the detection area extends to the outside of the heat generating region due to deviation of the relative positional relation by comparing the temperature state indicated by the temperature information with a temperature state which should be acquired from the detection area in the case that the relative positional relation is correct, and if it extends to the outside, issues (S710) a warning. |
