The transformer (1) has a housing (2) receiving a magnetic core, and including an opening (4) for conducting a primary conductor. The housing includes two housing parts, which are mounted such that the core is surrounded by the housing. A secondary conductor (5) is sectionally wound around the housing. A holding contour (6) is arranged at an outer contour of the housing, and designed for stationary positioning of a protection element (8) e.g. protection sheet, to protect the secondary conductor during conducting the primary conductor. The protection element is coupled with the housing. The secondary conductor is an enameled wire-secondary conductor.
