A composite bearing and a bearing assembly

A composite bearing and a bearing assembly is provided. The composite bearing comprises: (i) a continuous annular element 15 made from a silicon-carbide-cemented diamond (SCD) composite material or from silicon carbide; and (ii) an element 24 comprising another super-hard material optionally diamond material which has been deposited or grown onto the silicon carbide-cemented diamond (SCD) or silicon carbide element 15. The other super-hard element 24 covers at least part of a surface of the SCD or SiC annular element 15 and provides at least part of the wear surface of the composite bearing.
