PURPOSE: A simulator for evaluating a performance of a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) proximity sensor and a simulation method thereof are provided to evaluate a performance of the FMCW proximity sensor accurately without a detection disable section in a short distance by solving a time delay problem generated inside a simulator. CONSTITUTION: A simulator for evaluating a performance of a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) proximity sensor comprises an antenna unit (100), an RF transmitter and receiver (200), a control unit (300), an operation unit (400), and an input and output unit (500). The antenna unit is for transmitting and receiving. The RF transmitter and receiver receives a transmission signal of an FMCW from the FMCW proximity sensor through the antenna unit, and generates a received signal reflected to a fixed virtual target by varying the transmission signal, and transmits through the antenna unit. The control unit transmits a control signal for varying the transmission signal in the RF transmitter and receiver. The operation unit calculates a speed and a distance of the target by being inputted an output signal according to a sensing of the received signal from the FMCW proximity sensor. The input and output unit outputs a speed and a distance of the target calculated from the operation unit. The input and output unit inputs a set value about the control signal to the control unit. The RF transmitter and receiver varies the transmission signal by time-lag processing the transmission signal as a time according to a distance of the fixed virtual target, and by converting a frequency of the transmission signal as a doppler frequency according to a relative velocity of the virtual target.
