[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XV] In making a table-tennis ball, the two halves B are welded together to leave a thickened part 1 around the weld and the ball is then ground to a spherical shape. A strip of cellulose varnish 3 is applied around the weld and the rest of the ball varnished. Parallel striations 4 are then cut in the varnish layer. Alternatively, the striations may be cut in the body of the ball which is thickened for this purpose.</p> |
