The unit (4) has a rectangle parallelepiped envelope comprising a compartment forming a functional block and a bottom compartment (8) adjacent to a chimney (9). The chimney is located on an edge of the envelope and formed by uprights (502) and cross-pieces (504). The chimney defines outer walls of station including bottom, upper and lower walls closed by panels. The chimney has side walls forming outer walls of the unit including large vacuum spaces (500) separated by support cross-pieces (506), and a partition wall forming an inner wall of the unit and partially blocked by a sheet (508). An independent claim is also included for a medium voltage electric distribution station.
