A method of removing an accessory of an engine, as well as an accessory mounting structure are provided that allows for the drive shaft of an accessory (30) to be pushed out from a sprocket side. An engine (1) including a chain (22) and sprocket (40), the sprocket being housed between an engine main body and a chain case (20), further includes first and second cylindrical ribs (43, 44) that extend from the sprocket towards the engine main body, respectively, and first and second retention ribs that respectively extend from the engine main body towards the sprocket so as to overlap with the first and second cylindrical ribs in a radial direction, in which the drive shaft is pushed out using a tool (50) having threads (51) that thread with threads (48) in an inner circumference of the first cylindrical rib, thereby removing the accessory from the engine main body.
