PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform display with high quality in an electro-optical device such as a liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: On a substrate 10, an electro-optical device comprises: a plurality of data lines 6a and a plurality of scan lines 11a; pixel electrodes 9a formed at each of a plurality of pixels; a transistor 30 for switch-controlling the pixel electrodes 9a; a light shielding section 71 that has a transistor light shielding portion; and a relay electrode 95 that has a first portion overlapped with the transistor light shielding portion and a second portion not overlapped with the transistor light shielding portion. Further, the pixel electrodes 9a and the relay electrode 95 are electrically connected to each other through a first contact hole 86 bored so as to be overlapped with the first portion, and the transistor 30 and the relay electrode 95 are electrically connected to each other through a second contact hole 85 bored so as to be overlapped with the second portion.
