Method for enzymatically synthesising an amino acid or peptide C- terminal amide, from the corresponding N-protected amino acid ammonium salt or optionally N-protected peptide C -terminal carboxylic acid ammonium salt, by contacting said N-protected amino acid ammonium salt or optionally N-protected peptide C-terminal carboxylic acid ammonium salt with a serine endopeptidase. in an organic solvent or an organic solvent mixture containing 1 vol% or less water.
