<p>A trifunctional (meth)acrylate compound of general formula (I) and a polymerizable composition containing the compound. The compounds (I) wherein rings A 1 , A 2 , and A 3 are each benzene or naphthalene, with at least one of them being naphthalene or wherein X 1 , X 2 , and X 3 are each -COO- or -OCO- are preferred. More preferably, ring A 3 is naphthalene. Even more preferably, the compound is alone capable of retaining a liquid crystal phase at or below 30°C.
