The invention relates to an inductive proximity sensor, which operates according to the pulse method, and to the corresponding analyzing method. The transmitting coil (2) generates a pulsed primary magnetic field (5) that produces an eddy current in a target (6), said eddy current causing a secondary magnetic field (7) that generates a received signal (8) in the receiving unit (3). According to the invention, a magnetic sensor (9), in particular a GMR sensor, is used as the receiver, and said magnetic sensor can analyze not just the time variation of the secondary magnetic field (7) generated in the target (6) by the eddy currents but also the low-frequency components of the secondary magnetic field (7) generated by the eddy currents flowing in the target (6) in the method according to the invention. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for all-metal sensors. |
