PURPOSE: A method for transmitting and receiving data in a wireless access system supporting multiple radio access technology (RAT) and an apparatus thereof are provided to define overall procedure for a terminal having multiple RAT capability to transmit and receive through each of more than two heterogeneous networks respectively. CONSTITUTION: A control unit (11) performs scanning procedure for at least one second base station included in the coverage of a first base station. The control unit controls a wireless communication unit to receive a second system access command message instructing the access to one of the second base stations from the first base station. The control unit controls the wireless communication unit to transmit and receive data with the first base station and the connected second base station at the same time by accessing to the second base station, on the basis of the received second system access command message.
