PURPOSE: A composition containing various organic solvent extracts of Eisenia bicyclis and phlorotannins including eckol, dieckol, and dioxinodehydroeckol as active ingredients is provided to suppress halitosis and unpleasant smell. CONSTITUTION: A composition for suppressing halitosis and unpleasant smell contains an Eisenia bicyclis extract as an active ingredient. The extract is isolated using a solvent selected among methanol, n-butanol, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate and suppresses halitosis and unpleasant smell. A phlorotannin compound contains one or more compounds selected among eckol, dieckol, and dioxinodehydroeckol and suppresses halitosis and unpleasant smell.
