PURPOSE: A touch pad input device and a control method thereof are provided to enable a user to execute a control input anywhere by inputting various commands with a thumb in a gesture mode. CONSTITUTION: A first touch unit(111) recognizes a touch and generates a first touch signal. A second touch unit(112) is close to the first touch unit and generates the second touch signal by simultaneously recognizing the touch and a touch location. A control unit(120) provides a control signal to a host device by receiving a first and a second touch signal from the first and the second touch. A communication unit(140) wirelessly communicates with the host device. When the first and the second touch signal are continuously inputted, the control unit continuously controls the host device according to the continous location information included in the second touch signal.
