PURPOSE: A detection method of the distance between vehicles using image identification and a system thereof are provided to prevent the safety accident by recognizing the distance between vehicles, which is sensed using the variation of the image data of forward vehicle per fixed time, and to build an automatic driving system. CONSTITUTION: A detection method of the distance between vehicles using image identification is as follows. The image data designated from forward vehicle is obtained. The variation of the image of the obtained image data per fixed time is comparative operated. The variation of the distance between vehicles is detected by comparative operation between the reference data of designated image and the obtained image data. A detection system of the distance between vehicles using image identification comprises: a camera obtaining the image of the forward vehicle; a designated image detecting unit detecting the designated image among the images obtained from the camera; an image pixel operating unit operating the pixel number of the detected designated image by the designated image detecting unit; a reference pixel comparison detecting unit comparing the pixel number of the designated image printed from the image pixel operating unit with the pixel number of the designated reference image (12) and detecting; a pixel number variation detecting unit detecting the variation of the distance between vehicles by detecting the pixel variation of the designated image per fixed time; and a data unit in which the designated reference image and the obtained designated image are stored. |
