The present invention provides a sealing agent that is for a liquid crystal display element, has superior adhesion to an oriented film, and for the most part does not cause liquid crystal contamination to arise. Also, the objective of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display element obtained using the sealing agent for a liquid crystal display element. The sealing agent for a liquid crystal display element contains: a curable resin having a (meth)acrylate group; a curing agent; and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a surface-treated hydrotalcite, a surface-treated calcium carbonate, polyimide microparticles, nitrile butadiene rubber microparticles, a 3-alkoxysilyl propyl succinate anhydride, the compound represented by formula (1), the compound represented by formula (2), and the compound represented by formula (3). In formula (1), R1 represents a methyl group, a methoxy group, or an ethoxy group, and R2 and R3 represent a methoxy group or an ethoxy group. In formula (2), R4 represents a methyl group, a methoxy group, or an ethoxy group, and R5 and R6 represent a methoxy group or an ethoxy group. In formula (3),R7 represents a methoxy group or an ethoxy group. |
