PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reforming catalyst from poisoning deterioration due to sulfur contained in fuel.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a separator 76 for separating a supplied fuel into fuel having sulfur concentration lower than that of the supplied fuel, and fuel having sulfur concentration higher than that of the supplied fuel, and discharges the separated fuel; a recirculation passage 61 for recirculating a part of exhaust gas into an intake air passage 4; a reformed fuel injector 63 provided in the recirculation passage 61 and for injecting fuel as a reformed fuel, the fuel having low sulfur concentration discharged from the separator 76; and a reforming catalyst 641 provided in the recirculation passage 61, and for generating the reformed gas containing hydrogen by reforming the fuel/air mixture for reforming, of the exhaust gas and the reformed fuel. |
