PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which, while considering the color structure of an image, can correct axial chromatic aberration with high degree of certainty.SOLUTION: An image processing system comprises: image smoothing means for smoothing a target image having a plurality of color component pixel values to generate a plurality of smoothed images differing in the degree of smoothing; arithmetic means for calculating color differences for each pixel of the target image which are a difference between the predetermined color components of the target image and color components different from the predetermined color components of the smoothed images and the dispersion of color differences; adjustment means for determining on the basis of the dispersion of color differences the color component with highest sharpness in pixels of the target image and calculating on the basis of the color component with highest sharpness an adjustment amount by which the sharpness between color components in pixels of the target image is adjusted; and correction means for determining on the basis of color differences and the adjustment amount an image structure in pixels of the target image and correcting the sharpness between color components in pixels of the target image by the adjustment amount according to the determination result. |
