PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of coping with various compositions while improving precision of light control by pre-flashing, by reducing an exposure period with external light in pre-flashing.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus detects a face portion 500 included in an image obtained by a randomly accessible imaging device with arrangement in rows and columns. In order that a photometry area corresponds to the face portion 500, a system control circuit in the imaging apparatus sets the light-emitting timing of pre-flashing. In order to limit a photometry area along the column direction to the face portion, only image signals in a specific column are read from each row. |
