PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to appropriately control the amount of a refrigerant supplied to an evaporator in response to the change of a cooling load by controlling a plurality of refrigerant flow paths supplying a refrigerant in various methods with one evaporator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a compressor (1), a condenser (2), a distribution device (6), a first refrigerant flow path (9), a second refrigerant flow path (11), an evaporator (5), a first capillary tube (3), and a second capillary tube (4). The condenser condenses a refrigerant compressed by the compressor. The distribution device distributes the refrigerant condensed by the condenser. The refrigerant distributed by the distribution device individually flows along the first refrigerant flow path and the second refrigerant flow path. The evaporator evaporates the refrigerant supplied through at least one among the first refrigerant flow path and the second refrigerant flow path. The first capillary tube and the second capillary tube are individually included in the first refrigerant flow path and the second refrigerant flow path. |
