PURPOSE: A location estimating device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) environment and a method thereof are provided to efficiently reduce the computational complexity of a periodically configured access point (AP) group by using an AP group configuration part and a candidate AP configuration part. CONSTITUTION: An AP group configuration part (20) periodically configures an AP group having a smallest Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) value among candidate AP groups. Each of the candidate AP groups includes APs of a previously configured AP group and a candidate AP. A candidate AP configuration part (30) periodically configures the candidate AP. The candidate AP configuration part sets an AP, which has a biggest Fisher information value among reception-enabled APs other than the APs of the AP group previously configured at the AP group configuration part, as the candidate AP. A location estimating part (40) periodically estimates locations by using the received signal intensity of APs in an AP group configured at the AP group configuration part.
