PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nonwoven fabric by which a strong, bulky and flexible nonwoven fabric can be produced.SOLUTION: A method for producing a nonwoven fabric of the present invention comprises th steps of: forming a paper layer on a belt moving in one direction by supplying a papermaking raw material containing a moisture content and latent crimpable fiber onto the belt; forming first grooves extending in a machine direction on one face of the paper layer by jetting a high pressure water flow against the one face; drying the paper layer against which the high pressure water flow has been jetted to attain a moisture percentage of 10 to 45%; and forming second grooves extending in the machine direction and having a larger width than the first grooves on the other face of the paper layer and crimping the latent crimpable fiber of the paper layer by jetting, from a steam nozzle, a high pressure steam against the other face of the dried paper layer. A nonwoven fabric of the present invention is produced by this method for producing a nonwoven fabric. |
