PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction motor configured to reduce installation space of a rotation sensor for acquiring rotor rotation information, to reduce cost for the rotation sensor, and to acquire the rotor rotation information with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A rotor 4 of an induction motor 1 includes: a rotor core 7 having projections 7a protruding circumferentially at equal intervals on an outer periphery part; and attachment members 9 to be attached to a slot 7b formed between the projections 7a and having surface roughness different from that of the projections 7a. The projections 7a and the attachment members 9 are arranged alternately at equal intervals in a circumferential direction. The induction motor 1 includes an optical sensor 12 which is provided axially outside the rotor core 7, and includes a light-emitting element for emitting light to the projections 7a and the attachment members 9 alternately during rotation of the rotor 4, and a light-receiving element for receiving the light reflected by the projections 7a and the attachment members 9. |
