PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved electrochemically active material (EAM) for a cathode.SOLUTION: An electrochemically active material including a mixture or blend of two groups of particles exhibits a synergetic effect. The two groups of particles are a compound of formula (I): LiHVOand a compound of formula (II): LiMPOwhere M represents one or more transition metals including at least one metal which is capable of being brought into a higher valence state by being oxidized. In order to obtain the synergistic effect, the particles of the formula (I) and the particles of the formula (II) are present in an amount of 5:95-95:5 wt.%.
