摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic material excellent in formability (film-forming property) and fast responsiveness and an optical element excellent in responsiveness.SOLUTION: The electrochromic material includes a stimulus-responsive compound, which has a functional group having liquid crystalline property and varies its molecular structure by an oxidation reduction reaction, and a liquid crystal polymer crosslinked by a crosslinking agent; and the material shows changes in a color tone by an oxidation reduction reaction. The liquid crystal polymer is crosslinked preferably by adding a crosslinking agent by 1 mol or more and 10 mol or less to 100 mol of a monomer having a liquid crystalline functional group. The liquid crystal polymer preferably includes the same functional group as the functional group having liquid crystalline property of the stimulus-responsive compound. The electrochromic material preferably further includes a solvent and an electrolyte.
