PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the detection accuracy of an edge point in a manuscript region, when there is luminosity unevenness in the background region of image data including the manuscript region.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 10 includes an input section 50 for inputting image data including a manuscript region, a storage section 54 for storing the luminosity of each pixel on a first main scanning line, i.e., the main scanning line on the outside of the manuscript region, a correction section 52 for correcting the luminosity of each pixel on the first main scanning line being stored in the storage section 54, depending on the luminosity of a pixel in a first part and the luminosity of a pixel in a second part on a second main scanning line following the first main scanning line, and an edge point detection section 53 for detecting the edge point in the manuscript region located on the second main scanning line, depending on the difference between the luminosity of each pixel on the first main scanning line corrected by the correction section and the luminosity of each pixel on the second main scanning line corresponding to each pixel on the first main scanning line. |
