PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical module that is small in a return loss by reflected return light.SOLUTION: A lens array component 55 is placed at a position where a displacement amount of an attachment position of the lens array component 55 with respect to a light-emitting element 52a and a transmitting-side coated optical fiber 7a in a direction orthogonal to an optical axis of a transmitting fiber-side lens part 62A or a transmitting element-side lens part 65A from an ideal attachment position indicative of maximum efficiency of optical coupling efficiency indicates that reduction in the optical coupling efficiency with respect to the maximum efficiency is 1 dB or less. An end surface of a tip of the transmitting-side coated optical fiber 7a is placed at an off-set position in the optical axis direction from a focal position 62As of the transmitting fiber-side lens part 62A such that the return loss is reduced so as to be smaller than that when the optical coupling efficiency of the light-emitting element 52a and the transmitting-side coated optical fiber 7a is maximum by 10 dB or more.
