PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knock control device of an internal combustion engine, the device having low cost and capable of accurately detecting a knock.SOLUTION: A knock control device of an internal combustion engine includes a control unit, which updates a background level based on an output signal from a knock sensor and detects generation of a knock by comparing a variation in a background level with a knock determination value. The control device determines a knock when the following relationship is established: ((variation of first filter value of peak hold value)>(1-filter coefficient)/(1+filter coefficient)×(predetermined value larger than the maximum value of variation of the peak hold value when no knock is generated)).
