PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unclog an EGR passage in clogging while avoiding deterioration of response in EGR supply.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas recirculation system includes an EGR passage, an EGR valve to control the flowing condition of an exhaust gas in the EGR passage, and a clog sensing means to sense clogging of the EGR passage. The system further includes a control part to perform opening/closing control of the EGR valve when clogging in the exhaust gas recirculation system or EGR passage is sensed. Performing this opening/closing control of the EGR valve causes a turbulent flow to be generated in the exhaust gas in the EGR passage, which removes soot and/or PM deposited in an EGR cooler or on a filter installed in the EGR passage. |
